Event Hospitality in the Time of Social Distancing

The world we all knew at one time has now changed. Where social media was once king, social distancing now reigns. It could very well be easy to loose ones sense of core values in times of uncertainty. We wanted to take the time to let our customers not only know that we are not going anywhere, and that we will continue to hold true to what it means to be hospitable.

Event Hospitality
In the Time of Social Distancing

Covid-19 has grown into a huge inconvenience to the normal way of life for every person on the globe right now. As concerns increase, we as a company wanted to reach out to our community. We are still here for you, and for the foreseeable future, have NO intention of going anywhere.

This is all based on what it means to us to be hospitable. We are professionals in the event hospitality industry. We understand how reassuring it feels to know you’re supported. Often, we are just that, the warm smile a bride needs to see to feel stress-free on her big day & the strong pat on the back of the groom letting him know that this moment will be all they dreamed of as a couple! We are more than just a Disc Jockeys. We offer more than just our photography and videography services. We are REAL people who care about not just your special moment in time, but you personally. That is what it truly means to be hospitable.

Ceo, President, Wedding Dj Plus,

So though our distance may be great at this time, rest easy knowing that we have your back, and will continue to have the back of our employees during this time as well. You might ask: “What is Wedding DJ Plus doing to support the social distancing directive given by the President of the United States, the World Health Organization, and the Center for Disease Control?” Well to put it short, we are working remotely & connecting digitally. Though we are unable to meet face to face, our team is continuing to work normal business hours and has the resources and tools they need to do their jobs safely from home. We are hustling from home and here to support you with the best-in-class service you’ve come to expect.

Your health is just as important as your upcoming wedding event. We check-in continually with our clients, encouraging everyone to wash their hands, socially distance, and follow best practices to protect the health and wellbeing of themselves, their family, and our community. We are all in this together and additionally, we believe in supporting all should they become ill. If one of our team falls sick, we are asking all to take as much time off as they need to fully recover. If your event has been postponed, we are establishing extra measures to take care of one another through this stressful time.

Over the next month, we will also be lending our support to our local organizations as they continue to distribute information & support to vulnerable families in need of information, food assistance, and direct relief during this difficult time. Additionally, we will be monitoring all of the latest information & recommendations from the CDC and WHO. We want to be sure to do our part in stopping the spread of this disease. The health and well-being of our clients, team, and community are a huge priority to us and we give you our word that we will continue to stick by our core values of Hospitality, Honor & Transparency. We appreciate all of your steadfast support of our business —

We are eternally grateful!

Personalized Wedding Hashtags, Are They Worth It?

Personalized Wedding Hashtags, Are They Worth It?

At Wedding DJ Plus often times we are asked by clients the above question in terms of planning their wedding. It mostly comes from clients that are not too involved with social media and don’t really see the value in it. Here are the responses we usually reply with. We’re positive they will convince you too.

It’s a great way to add some FUN! –  A creative and unique wedding hashtag is honestly the best way to add a cherry on top of the wedding cake, figuratively speaking of course. When your hashtag is pun-worthy and humorous, it not only keeps people talking but also engaged and entertained. What better way is there to showcase your wit with a funny, yet catchy hashtag?

Who doesn’t want a Couples Catchphrase?! – Instagram famous anyone? That could be you! We have had couples use their personal hashtag for years to come, especially since hashtags for weddings are still a newer trend. You can make great use of your hashtag on and off for the foreseeable future. It literally becomes a personal marketing tool for you as a couple!

Photo Booth Keepsakes – Who doesn’t LOVE a great photo booth. Not only it is fun, but with custom photo booth graphics, you can incorporate your great custom hashtag as well. What an awesome way to commemorate the occasion in the form off a photo keepsake for your guests!

Quality Decorations – If you are forward thinking enough to create your hashtag well in advance of your wedding, then you have the opportunity to incorporate the wedding hashtag into wedding decorations! You can make your invitations even more inviting and your wedding signs even more engaging!

Social Media Digital Album –  Now for the practical usage of a wedding hashtag. It organizes your pictures. A unique hashtag will allow you to get all the awesome pictures off Instagram that your friends took. You will be able to look back years to come and remember all the happy moments surrounding your wedding. If you are a heavy user of Facebook and Instagram you know the feeling of creating awesome posts. So avoid wedding hashtag shame so you can make some great posts!

So now that you see all the great benefits to having your own personalized hashtag, where do you start. Below are a few examples that some of our past clients have come up with:

  • #CrystalFoundHerMattch – With two T’s because it was Crystal and Matt
  • #5YearsInTheBroucks -The Broucks at their 5-year renewal reception.
  • #MeetTheRobinsons – Their new name together
  • #OchoaHeartsConner – both names celebrating their love
  • #OsterMarried – The Ostermillers destination wedding
  • #MartinezForDhemsure – Martinez & Dheming a mix of their last names.

How to Choose the Perfect DJ

Hey, Mr. DJ everybody's ready to party!

Choosing the soundtrack for your wedding day can be an intimidating task. While its common to opt for a small quartet of stringed instruments or a cover band to get the mood set, in actuality disc jockeys are among the most popular choice. Since you don’t want to just pick any old name from the barrel, we asked wedding planning experts for some tips to help with your search:

1. Be sure to outline your goals in entirety.

Every single wedding is different, so it’s only right to assume that each wedding will have a different sound. Your wedding soundtrack shapes the mood of your big day. When choosing your Disc Jockey, it’s very important to take into consideration the goals for the reception. Would you like the mood to be more mellow & low-key, or high energy & uplifting?

The DJ you choose should have a well-stocked catalog of popular dance hits, the latest EDM singles, and old favorites everyone knows. If looking for a more classic vibe to your event, legends like – Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, and new favorites like John Legend should also be available for a more mellow and moody atmosphere.

2. Select the right DJ for you and your guests

Ask for lots of recommendations. When you need a haircut, you just don’t pick any old stylist–  you may ask around or look at reviews for the best recommendations. If you wouldn’t trust just anyone with your locks, you definitely shouldn’t just choose any old DJ for your music! Your event is momentous, and likewise, the music and reception emcee duties should be placed in the right hands. When you ask for recommendations, you’ll be able to gather information on the top-notch pros in your area and find out who you don’t want to hire as well. This is a super valuable info to have. Finding out who to avoid will help you to narrow down the selections and ultimately find the best option.

3. Conduct Casual Interviews

When you narrow down your list to your top 5, it is important to schedule casual interviews with each. It’s possible to hire a DJ without meeting them first, but you could risk running into some serious issues. When it comes to experience, their affinity to be professional matters.
You cannot trust them to show up on your big day if they can’t meet up to consult with you. Even if every question possible is on their contract or website… it’s still important to meet them personally to ensure everyone is on the same page. In the days leading up to the meeting, write out any questions that concern you. Think about their vibe and ask how they initiate getting the crowd going. No one wants an empty dance floor. Is your prospective DJ willing to emcee the event and make announcements? Will the DJ be able to take song requests? How bolstered is their music catalog? These are all types of questions you should be asking the DJ you’re considering hiring.

4. Get Everything in Writing

To ensure you’re getting all you’ve asked for, make sure to get everything in writing. Having an outlined contract is the best way to know everything your package includes, as well as the cost of services and how/when payments are to be made. Confusion surrounding those details can lead to a huge headache, so it’s best to work it out via contract.
Like mentioned before, DJs are a dime a dozen. So every DJ & DJ company is different. One company‘s policy can differ greatly from the other. Being clear about your expectations is the best was to ensure success. Communication is crucial, no matter the size of your event. The last thing you need to worry about at your wedding is which song to play next. Take our advice and you’ll be dancing down the aisle stress-free!
